I think what it does not include and could be a coup de gras factor would be a failure by the civilizations to eliminate debt that undoubtedly built up throughout the entire collapse period. That of course makes it perfectly analogous to our own situation. If debt is allowed to overwhelm a system it must collapse. 5000 years of the paradigm of Debt and Loan Only is surely too long for any paradigm, no?
