Posted To Billy Mitchell’s Blog Regarding Orthodoxy, Delusion and Political and Policy Paralysis

Orthodoxies and agendas wriggle their way into people’s thinking in so many ways it takes a very strong commitment to the integrative mindset to get clear of them. Also people are so afraid of not knowing something that overly strong and premature decision making becomes valued over honest and thorough observation. Throw ego into that formula and you’ve got what passes for “truth”, “authority” and “enlightened policy”.

If economists and political leaders realized that on a scale of actual knowing, Not Knowing is second from the top right below Knowing…not way down the scale close to ignorance or confusion, then their ignorance, confusion and fear would be transformed into the intellectual virtue, openness and understanding known as Wisdom.

Debt As In Enslavement and Grace As In Freedom

The Current economic and monetary paradigms are Debt as in enslavement unto death. The word mortgage is literally translated as death pledge, or in the case of the present economic and monetary paradigms a pledge of enslavement to Debt unto death.

The new economic and monetary paradigm is Grace as in the free gift of money. Grace is forgiveness, systemic freedom from and personal sovereignty/control over Debt. The new paradigm is relatively easily integrated into the economy because money is such a wonderfully fungible and accurate tool, and monetary grace the free gift will replace the current dominant paradigm of Debt.

Regarding the difference between modeling in the physical and social sciences:

What if there is a concept that includes the mindsets and properties of both the scientific and social sciences….at the same time? Might that not be a mindset that could integrate and unify the two?

The Real Ideas of the Economy, Wisdom and Awareness of the Concept of Grace

A system is as good as the actual ideas upon which it is primarily based.

The current ideas that the economic and monetary systems are primarily based upon are power, profit and control. None of these are bad ideas in and of themselves, but they are woefully inadequate systemic ideas because they are incomplete reflections of the beings residing within them. Now ideas are ideas, and you can base a system on one as readily as you can on another, and craft policy around them, but the quality and character of the idea(s) has incredible consequences for good or for bad. It is astonishing to me that we don’t think through this fact and absolutely insist that our systems be based on the very best and most complete ideas, concepts and characteristics of we the human beings who operate and reside within them.

Man is a conscious being. He is homo sapiens, wise and discerning man. This cannot and must not be denied. The aspects and characteristics of Wisdom and of consciousness/self awareness must thus be contemplated, clarified and then included as the most basic and essential ideas and experiences to base our systems on. As three of the characteristics of consciousness are inclusiveness, completeness and a highly refined sense of ethics I would suggest we start with these three and stay with them until our job is….inclusive, complete and ethically highly refined.

Consciousness/self awareness exists and flows. The word and concept of Grace has long been associated with balance, equilibrium and flow as well as with beauty which is a harmonic of Love, and finally with sovereign power both in the governmental and personal sense.  Grace then is not only relevant to economics/economic theory whose classical goals are also balance, equilibrium and flow, but also with spirituality whose classical goals are also these three plus Love which presupposes ethics and must realistically deal with and consider both personal and governmental power and their correct relationship to each other.

Grace is the pinnacle concept of Wisdom and the nexus for all human actions both personal and systemic. This is the idea and concept that most accurately describes the completeness, inclusiveness and ethicality  we seek and that needs expression. The linguistic, conceptual, economic, monetary and spiritual alignments echo back and forth in exact and powerful symmetries that cannot be ignored or denied.

The Thirdness of Wisdom and Grace

The problem is Disequilibrium not interfering with Equilibrium, and thus it is a matter of lack of wise action not worshipful prostration before the holiness of markets.

The problem is lack of sovereignty in its highest ethical sense not government itself, so the real need is for wise and gracious policy, not mistaking chaos for liberty or allowing the dominance of Finance to so long remain hiding in plain sight that businesses cannot survive in the economy unless they adopt the law of the jungle. There is always a third and better way that unifies and resolves.

Why the Solution is not Capitalism or Socialism, But Distributism

The austerity argument IS over, but the supreme irony is that socialism is not going to actually solve the problem. Not because socialists are evil or something, quite the contrary they’re basically all well intended, but they miss the point that the problem is not profit but scarcity, that the economy is monetary not barter and that man’s ultimate worth is not just in his labor but in all of his purposes most especially Wisdom, Beauty and Graciousness.

It’s an interesting trend and obviously would be a large reduction in costs, and the “reciprocal obligations” for the purchase of products and services at agreed upon prices sounds as if it could have been like a discount…but the description in the article appears more like it is some price control scheme which will never work. You have to enable businesses to find their price first and then discount it. Costs, excess costs in ratio to individual incomes simultaneously produced….they rule the micro-economy. Both conservative and  progressive economists and pundits just can’t get that through their heads and/or think they can ignore it. And then what is going to happen as innovation and AI continue to destroy aggregate individual incomes?

Any system based on generic force or manipulation of one sort or another and that ignores basic economic realities will degenerate into a top down vulgar system of oppression. Why not think a new thought like grace/gifting? Why not consider the economic self empowering, mentally powerful and ethically resonant and so powerful concept of grace? This is not religious dogma, but natural philosophy/natural spirituality. Conceive the idea and align policy with it. It’s a straightforward process.

The tech bubble will undoubtedly collapse. However, in the future, the immediate future actually, tech and AI will be able to much more stably continue their logics of both efficiency and abundance….if we are smart enough to integrate monetary grace/monetary Gifting into our economic thinking.
