A system is as good as the actual ideas upon which it is primarily based.
The current ideas that the economic and monetary systems are primarily based upon are power, profit and control. None of these are bad ideas in and of themselves, but they are woefully inadequate systemic ideas because they are incomplete reflections of the beings residing within them. Now ideas are ideas, and you can base a system on one as readily as you can on another, and craft policy around them, but the quality and character of the idea(s) has incredible consequences for good or for bad. It is astonishing to me that we don’t think through this fact and absolutely insist that our systems be based on the very best and most complete ideas, concepts and characteristics of we the human beings who operate and reside within them.
Man is a conscious being. He is homo sapiens, wise and discerning man. This cannot and must not be denied. The aspects and characteristics of Wisdom and of consciousness/self awareness must thus be contemplated, clarified and then included as the most basic and essential ideas and experiences to base our systems on. As three of the characteristics of consciousness are inclusiveness, completeness and a highly refined sense of ethics I would suggest we start with these three and stay with them until our job is….inclusive, complete and ethically highly refined.
Consciousness/self awareness exists and flows. The word and concept of Grace has long been associated with balance, equilibrium and flow as well as with beauty which is a harmonic of Love, and finally with sovereign power both in the governmental and personal sense. Grace then is not only relevant to economics/economic theory whose classical goals are also balance, equilibrium and flow, but also with spirituality whose classical goals are also these three plus Love which presupposes ethics and must realistically deal with and consider both personal and governmental power and their correct relationship to each other.
Grace is the pinnacle concept of Wisdom and the nexus for all human actions both personal and systemic. This is the idea and concept that most accurately describes the completeness, inclusiveness and ethicality we seek and that needs expression. The linguistic, conceptual, economic, monetary and spiritual alignments echo back and forth in exact and powerful symmetries that cannot be ignored or denied.
