Civilization/Society is primarily an idea and paradigms are generally held ideas.

A new Idea/Paradigm transforms the old Idea/Paradigm and yet is inclusive and in various ways redemptive of the old one. Example, the well known transformation from Hunter/Gatherer societies to Agriculture. It utterly transformed human society and boosted survival and yet you still had hunting/butchering and gathering/gardening-crop raising.

Paradigm changes generally occur when orthodoxies have run on too long, become tyrannical and can no longer sustain society in a humane and/or ecologically sane fashion.

The world is awash in orthodoxies of various types and in most bodies of knowledge including the hard sciences.

Integration of Wisdom and its pinnacle concept Grace into Civilization/Society is the next mental and temporal evolution and paradigm.
