Economically-So that one looks at all of the data and all of the course of the productive system and is then able to discern the most basic problem of the system…and then craft policies that actually deal with it.
Psychologically-So that one does not do unconscious things that sabotage their lives with others and themselves
Spiritually-So that you awaken to the reality of your Self/Self Awareness and also completely integrate it into the present time temporal universe of Time and Space and events so as to experience Grace, and so go through Life experiencing it more deeply, more positively, more constructively and yet more flowingly.
Also on a scale of Knowing in the deepest sense as in Self Knowledge to the lowest state of knowing which is Mystery, Looking at some thing or some data or some concept is right below knowing it in the deepest sense and leads in fact to Self Knowledge. Hence the act of actually looking is extremely important and a powerful path to understanding. Why do you think zen monks gaze at walls? It’s because they are using Looking as an act of attention and intention to better focus their attention/consciousness, to better see the physical universe and to simultaneously focus on their consciousness itself, in order to better actualize experience themselves/their consciousness
Looking, actually looking, is the key to understanding and expanding data, concepts and the Self.
