Response to a debate on how to proceed in the shattered remains of economic theory, and how Einstein’s relativity can also denote and embrace intersubjectivity.
Einstein was correct in this sense, but his observations remain incomplete for most scientists as they leave out the consciousness of the observer, as pathetically and sophomoric-ally, the reductive and fragmented scientific paradigm requires. This despite the fact that the signature of both good science and of scientific break through is the scientific method integrated with an aspect of human consciousness like imagination, intuition, faith as in the boldness and confidence to look at data that may appear contradictory and/or opposing one’s own or an authority’s current beliefs. Economics and every human system requires integration with Wisdom and its pinnacle concept and natural experience of grace if it is to be both practical and ethical, both cutting edge and inclusive.
Grace as in the free gift of individual income is the only idea/paradigm and policy that is able to counter the paradigm of Debt. Lack of awareness of the importance of integration, and/or lack of willingness to integrate rather than merely analyze and reduce in general is precisely why the economic system and any other human system….continues to stumble around in the dark. Do I engage in religiofication here? Of course not. It’s just that even though personally an agnostic I refuse to throw the natural experience of grace out with the pre-scientific dogma that often attends it…and I also recognize its actual effects on policy, economically or otherwise. I also refuse to deny others their right to believe as they so please, as an ethic of graciousness is above even the importance of applying Grace to human systemic policy. The experience, the conscious awareness of the effectiveness and applicability of grace and an ethic of Grace, is what is important, no matter what the route one takes. Finally, and luckily, as consciousness pervades all human activity, it works both concentrically (macro-cosmically) and con-entrically (micro-cosmically) as well. As in spirituality, so also and properly in its subset economics.
