…of the lack of Wisdom in Economics and Economic theorizing than the confusion, the resistance to change and the decreasing applicability of its policies? Wisdom after all is the integrative process itself where the relevant truths of various and opposing theories are combined resulting in an expanded and higher understanding of the subject that resolves past problems and creates policies that make the system more practical and ethical. Unfortunately we don’t see much of that from the leaders of the dominant orthodoxy since the crisis of 2007-2008. Heterodox theorists are searching for answers, but most of their theories reek of the same kind of fragmented mentality that has characterized economic theory for so long. What if they asked themselves the question: What is the pinnacle of Wisdom? …and then followed the answer to that through to an alignment with a new philosophy of economics and reflecting macro-economic policies? What if?
